Frequently Asked Questions

  • Meadowlark Psychology supports young people aged 12–25.

This includes adolescents and young adults who may be navigating personal issues, relationship issues, school, study, work, or life transitions.

Clients commonly seek support for anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, emotional regulation, school or study challenges, relationship difficulties, and identity or life-stage transitions.

Parents and caregivers are welcome to make enquiries, and young people aged 18 and over may also self-refer.

If your needs fall outside the scope of this practice, we will aim to support you in finding more appropriate care.

  • No referral is needed to book.

However, if you have a valid referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician, it may allow you to claim a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per year.

After six sessions, your psychologist will provide a brief update to the referring practitioner. A follow-up appointment with the GP is then required to review progress and, if appropriate, approve access to additional sessions.

  • Detailed information about session fees, Medicare rebates, assessment costs, and cancellation policies is available on the Fees page.

  • A standard session length is 50 minutes.

  • Therapy

At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a therapy appointment.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time, or non-attendance, will incur the full session fee.

    Assessment

Psychoeducational assessment sessions involve extended booking blocks that are not easily reallocated. Cancellations or postponements with less than 72 hours’ notice will result in forfeiture of the deposit.

Where more than 72 hours’ notice is provided, the deposit may be transferred once to a rescheduled appointment.

  • With consent, communication with schools and other allied health professionals can occur when clinically appropriate.

Updates to GPs under a Mental Health Care Plan are brief and general in nature.

  • Meadowlark Psychology is not a crisis service. If urgent support is required, please contact an appropriate crisis or emergency service.
